Owner of @kitchensbypriscilla, Priscilla Parris, has been a well-known designer in Los Angeles and Orange County for over 36 years. With a BS Degree in Interior Design from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she first worked for the L.A. company that invented 3D software for the kitchen and bath industry. Through that experience, she became an expert in the design process. In 1994, after working for three contractors, Priscilla opened her first showroom in Huntington Beach. In 2011, she became a design partner at PIRCH, Orange County’s premiere, luxury appliance and plumbing showroom.

Featured in many local publications and in HOUZZ, she now has decided to put her small sample showroom in beautiful downtown San Clemente, inside Historic City Hall. “Large and cumbersome showrooms are a thing of the past,” says Priscilla, who has owned many. “In order to stay current, it is better to keep overhead low and be at the jobsite where expert supervision is required during installation,” she shares.

Well-known Laguna Beach painter Karen Phelps has a new muse for her next masterpiece. The scene will take onlookers to the early-February COVID-19 vaccine clinic at her @reataglen home where Karen’s neighbors were sporting big grins on their faces and Superman capes around their necks.

“This was a moment we’d all been waiting for,” Phelps said with a smile. “This vaccine clinic was like a big party at the community. We had balloons, pinatas, and live entertainment. It felt like the pandemic never happened. This painting will have a unifying theme behind it.”

With nearly all of Reata Glen’s residents vaccinated, the community looks forward to maintaining the strength, hope and resiliency in its residents and team members, and it has big plans to #MoveForward in 2021.

In 1934, Nephi Anderson moved his family from Alberta Canada to Los Angeles on special assignment from his church to build chapels and grow the local congregation. Upon completion, he elected to stay in Southern California and start a construction development company. He and his five sons found tremendous success building some of Southern California’s very first sub-divisions. In 1958, the company was eventually turned over to his oldest son, Blaine, and renamed Deseret Construction. Following in his father’s footsteps, Blaine groomed his four sons to enter the contracting field. Eventually, all of them split off and formed their individual companies throughout California. @chandersonconstruction was formed by his middle son, Craig Hales Anderson.

@bemuslandscape was founded in 1973 by Bill Bemus. He needed to earn money while attending classes at Orange Coast College, so in a ’62 Dodge pickup, he started pedaling gardening services and began mowing lawns, raking leaves, shearing hedges, and pruning trees.

Shortly after founding the company, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Martine. He was 20; she was 19, and life was good. In short time, the one-man gardening show grew into a full-service landscape company. He continued to pursue his education, transferred to Cal Poly Pomona and qualified for a C-27 Contractor’s License. He wasn’t a gardener anymore; he was a landscape contractor, with a license to prove it.
